She was born December 25, 1936 in Long Branch, Washington County, and the youngest of three daughters of the late Benjamin D. and Henrietta M. Watson, Phillips.
Carol was a graduate of Charleroi High School class of 1954.
She was married in June 18, 1954 to William A. Thompson, who died in March 7, 2008.
Carol partnered with her husband to run the family dairy farm and spent her other time chasing after her children, several dogs and escaped calves, but mostly the children. She perpetually had a porch full of cats, all named, “Damn it Cat”.
She taught Sunday school to many children at several churches and was pianist, along with participating in their choirs. She also led a 4-H Sewing Club.
As a young wife she picked grapes to help support her family. She worked in a shirt factory and was an activity aid at the former Curry Home to help pay for her children’s education.
In her later years, she learned to play dulcimer, and joined a dulcimer club. She also developed a love of travel, and enjoyed bus trips all over the country.
Surviving are three children, Deb Thompson and her husband Dave of Pittsburgh, Albie Thompson and his wife Diana of Enola, and Elaine Thompson and her partner Craig of Waynesburg; four grandchildren, Brandon Thompson, William Thompson, Pandora Thompson and Ben McGowan; five step-grandchildren, Keith Lemley, Dan Hajnik, Brian Hajnik, Justin McGowan, and Lisa McGowan; one great grandchild; a sister, Garnet Storez of Colorado Springs, CO and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her husband is a sister, Norma Gene Cullen.
