Cecil William Suhrie
May 28, 1934 – July 20, 2018
Cecil W. Suhrie, 84, of Brownsville passed away Friday, July 20, 2018. He was born in Richeyville May 28, 1934. He graduated in 1953 from California High School and spent four years in the U.S. Army. On May 3, 1958 he married Deanna Joy Warring, who survives. They had just celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary. During their lifetime together, Cecil enjoyed playing basketball and baseball for McLouth Steel: they won several state championships, three national championships and Cecil was voted the most valuable player in one. He was a lifelong Steeler fan. After ending his baseball hobby, Cecil entered the world of harness racing. Having no previous experience with horses, Cecil became an accomplished trainer winning many races. In later years, Cecil took up traveling, visiting 45 of the 50 states while developing his love of reviving older homes. One year ago, Cecil moved back to Pennsylvania, where he was delighted to become acquainted with his half- brother and four half-sisters of the Calladine family. Surviving are “His Bride”, Deanna, and four loving children, Mark A. Suhrie of Boaz, AL; Susan M. Pringle of Vancouver, WA; Denise R. Yonetani of Merced, CA; and Brenda L. Williams of Ridgefield, WA; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
