

He was born May 9, 1937 in Rogersville, a son of the late Lindsey and Lucy Durbin Black.
Mr. Black served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
He worked as a shaft driller for Central Cambria Drilling, retiring in 1995.
Mr. Black was a member of the American Legion Post #954, Jefferson, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #4793, Waynesburg, DAV Post #123, Waynesburg, Moose Lodge #461 and the FOE Eagles Lodge #281, Waynesburg. He enjoyed going to the casino, going to flea markets and taking care of his lawn.
On July 6, 1956 he married Sandra Anderson Black, who died, May 24, 1992 and a companion of 23 years Erma Louise Bedilion, who died August 11, 2015.
Surviving are eight children, John Black and his wife Sue of Homeville (Jefferson), Gary Black, Larry Black, Darla Ball and her husband Randy, Mike Black and his wife Tricia, Debra Basinger and Crystal Black all of Waynesburg, and Steven Black of Washington; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; three brothers, Ralph Black and John Black both of Waynesburg, and Charles Black of Pittsburgh; two sisters, Alberta Sutherland of Waynesburg, and Patricia Smitley of Mather; five step-children, Brenda Andrews and her husband Mark of Edmond, OK, Lisa Bell and her husband Donnie of Townsend, DE, David Bedilion and his wife Kimberly of Waynesburg, Ricky Bedlion and his wife Cheri of Beaver Falls, and Brian Bedilion and his wife Amy of Newark, DE; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three sons, Shawn Black, Aaron Black, and Eric Black; two grandsons, John W.L. Black II and Zachery J. Black; a great granddaughter, Addison Black; and three brothers, Alvie Black, James Black, and Harry Black.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, in the Behm Funeral Homes Inc.1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where services will held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 23, 2015 with the Rev. John Poling officiating. Interment will follow in Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson.
