He was born on February 20, 1950 to Betty (Koscho) Cowley and the late George Joseph Cowley Sr. in Centerville, Pa. George was a 1968 graduate of Beth Center High School. After high school, he attended GTE Automatic Electric Training Center (telephone and electronics) and the Institute of Computer Management (computer programming). Over the years, he had various jobs, such as a mechanic and parts person, contractor for Pool City, and installer and lineman for Centerville Telephone Company. He owned Service Processing Company packaging and delivering oil to the coal mines and also, owned and operated his own sawmill. On August 2, 1986, George married Susan Kennedy, who survives.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his son, Ryan Cowley, daughter, Rachel Parnell (Keenan), grandson, Kolton Parnell, and step grandson Liam McDonough. He is also survived by siblings, Tara Walsh, Christine Scena (Mike), David Cowley (Denise), Scott Cowley (Tanya), Amy Johnson (Butch), Jessica Hurley (Brian), and many nieces and nephews.
George was a very intelligent man and everyone knew him as the man that could fix anything. He was truly a jack of all trades. In his younger days, he was interested in auto racing, water skiing, swimming and boating. His continued interests were alternative energy sources and computer hardware and software. In his later years, he enjoyed going to tractor pulls. He worked on vehicles, farm equipment, etc. (anything that had a motor) and designed and built the home he lived in. Without formal titles, George was a plumber, electrician, mechanic, contractor, and all-around handyman.
On top of the list of George's many talents, he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend, who will be dearly missed.
