Gilbert Sisler, Jr., 90, of Waynesburg, passed away peacefully in his home with his devoted wife by his side on Monday, February 3rd, 2025. He was born on May 17, 1934, in Waynesburg and was the son of the late Gilbert, Sr. and Bertha Hughes Sisler.
From a young age, Gilbert was a hard worker, providing for his family. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1956. For many years he owned and operated Sisler Sanitation until 1977 when he began working for Emerald Mine in Waynesburg until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of the UMWA Local 2258, a 32nd degree mason in the Masonic Lodge, Moose Lodge and the American Legion. For many years, Gilbert enjoyed working with animals and passed his passion onto his children and grandchildren. He truly enjoyed the beauty of an American Saddlebred Horse and coached his children to multiple state championships. His grandchildren had much success with many Greene County grand and reserve championships in cattle and swine. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman where there was always a good story to be told.
On December 18, 1954, he married his loving wife of 70 years, Dolores Sisler. Also left behind to cherish his memory are daughter, Kimberly Sisler, son David (Tammy) Sisler, and daughter, Michelle (Randy) Patton. Grandchildren: Samantha (Russell) Miller, David (April) Sisler, and Bryn Patton. Great grandchildren: Wyatt Sisler, Aurora Miller, Luna Miller, and Walker Sisler. Sister: Lindy McIntyre. Brothers: Roy (Sally) Sisler, Barry (Sharon) Sisler and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is pre-deceased by an infant son, Ronald Sisler; brothers William L. Sisler and Ronald Sisler, and sisters Elsie Mae Sisler, Patsy Moser, and Fern DeWitt.
Gilbert lived a vibrant life filled with love – a legacy that will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known him.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation on Thursday, February 6 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM and the funeral service on Friday, February 7 at 11 AM at Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Rd., Jefferson, PA 15344; interment to follow at Greene County Memorial Park.
