Gloria S. Christy

She was born April 24, 1928 in Rices Landing in the house where she resided. She was the daughter of the late George R. and Mary Cumley Sharpnack. Mrs. Christy attended the elementary school in Rices Landing and graduated from Jefferson District High School (now known as Jefferson Morgan) in the class of 1946. She served as chairwoman of her class reunions.

On June 30, 1966 she married Andrew Christy Jr. of Millsboro who passed away February 22, 1998.

Mrs. Christy retired from West Penn Power Company; she had also been employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and First National Bank in Waynesburg.

She was a member of Hewitt Presbyterian Church in Rices Landing where she was a former Sunday School Teacher, member of the choir, and Church Treasurer. She was a former member of the Brooks-Crago American Legion Auxiliary No. 186 where she served as president, secretary, and treasurer. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Auxiliary of the Greene County Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Jefferson Senior Center. She served on the Board of Directors for the Hewitt Cemetery Corporation. She was a former member of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are a sister Mary Elizabeth Bailey of Albion; a brother Robert L. Sharpnack of Meridian, Idaho; and nieces and nephews, Robert Lee Montgomery, Dawn M. Mazur, Pamela J. Helmick, Rob Sharpnack, and Bill Sharpnack.

Deceased is a brother, George W. (Buzz) Sharpnack.

Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Behm Funeral Homes Inc. 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna Supervisor, where services will be held at 11:00 am. Monday March 31, 2014 with Rev. Geoff Rach officiating followed by private interment in Greene County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hewitt Presbyterian Church or Hewitt Cemetery, 1206 Crucible Road, Rices Landing, PA 15357.
