Joseph O. Scrip

He was born July 26, 1943 in New Eagle, a son of the late Joseph O. and Margaret Kerestes Scrip.

He was a 1960 graduate of Monessen High School. After High School he served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years.

Mr. Scrip retired as vice president for retail sales for Mellon Bank where he worked for 39 years.

On May 23, 1970 he married Cheryl Volk Scrip, who survives.

Mr. Scrip was a former resident of Monesson. He resided in Rices Landing since 1996.

He was a member of St. Marcellus Roman Catholic Church in Jefferson.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Joseph P. Scrip Sr. (Robin) of Wellsburg, WV; a daughter Sherri Duel (Dr. Andrew) of Scenery Hill; 6 grandchildren, Joseph Scrip Jr. (Britnee), Katie Nunley (Conner), Courtney Ambrose, Alyssa, Daniel, and Connor Duel; and a great-granddaughter, Bailee Spryn.

Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., Friday in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, where a blessing service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2014 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Marcellus R.C. Church, Jefferson with Rev. J. Francis Frazer celebrant. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association or ARC of Washington County.
