

She was born September 22, 1923 in Mill Run, a daughter of the late Wilson and Emma Gertrude Thompson Basinger.
Mrs. Harris was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was affectionately called “Old grandma”. She lived with her daughter Esther and her husband Larry, who were her caregivers.
She was a member of the Jefferson United Methodist Church, where she delivered meals on wheels and was the communion steward for a time. She also helped cook in the kitchen at the church.
Mrs. Harris loved watching the birds outside her window, sitting on the porch in the summer, and old time country and gospel music. She even played the guitar and sang years ago.
She had worked at the form Chicken House Restaurant for John & Dixie Christopher at one time.
On November 22, 1945 she married Howard Anson Harris, who died December 8, 1974.
She also had a loving companion for 20 years, Anthony Jezewski, who died April 9, 1996.
Surviving are a daughter, Esther Mae Rigby and her husband Larry of Jefferson; a son Richard A. Harris and his wife Mary Kay of Strongsville, OH; three grandchildren, Erica Rutan Stage and her husband John, Zack Harris and his wife Amanda and Cory Harris; three great grandsons, Jeremiah James Davis, Jacob David McCallum and Jordan Michael Bolyard; a sister, Dorothy Stillwagon of Bedford and a brother, Charles Basinger of Mill Run.
Deceased is a son who died in infancy, Gary Anson Harris; three sisters, Bessie Basinger, Verna Cole and Violet Hutchinson; four brothers, Harry Basinger, Woody Basinger, Jacob Basinger and Jesse Basinger.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 22, 2011 with the Rev. Ernest DeLuca officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg.
