He was born December 8, 1946 in Waynesburg, a son of the late John J. and Helen Evanesky Kniha Jr.
Michael was a graduate of Jefferson-Morgan High School. Following high school he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He worked as a pipe fitter in the steel mills most of his life.
Surviving are two children, Brandon Kniha and Bethany Coyne; three siblings, John J. Kniha and his wife Randy of Waynesburg, Ronald Kniha of Waynesburg, and Marlene Pike and her husband Dennis of McClellandtown.
A gathering of family and friends will be received from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 16, 2017 in the Behm Funeral Homes Inc.1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor.
