Nicola A. “Tony” Christy, 82, of Waynesburg, died Sunday, June 21, 2020 at home peacefully with his family by his side. He was born April 3, 1938 in Brownsville, a son of the late Orban and Anna Petrac Dicristofora. Tony served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. He was a coal miner from Cumberland Mine, retiring in 2000. Tony enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially with his grandchildren. He was a member of the American Legion Post #391, Fredericktown and the United Mine Workers of America. On November 28, 1959 he married Frances Magdaline Piechnick, who died November 12, 2012. Surviving are four children, Bernadine Sisler, Antonette Springer, Dora McCall and Anthony Christy; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Deceased are a daughter, Jacqueline Christy; two brothers, Samuel Christy and Robert “Bob” Christy; and a sister, Mary Koci. At the request of the family all services are private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Rd., Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor. Interment will be in Greene County Memorial Park, with Military Honors accorded by the Greene County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
