Sandra Rae (Alexandrea Bernadine) Brottish, age 75, passed peacefully away in her home on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. She was born December 14, 1948 to Betty Ewing and Frank (Bud) Keys, in Brownsville, PA.
She married the love of her life, John Brottish, on May 9, 1966. They built a beautiful life together and had many, many adventures, including a cross country road trip and being snowbirds in Florida. Their dog Spot was the newest baby of the family.
Surviving in addition to her husband are their 4 children John (Darlene) Brottish, of Belle Vernon, Christine Brottish of Mather, Brian (Nicole) Brottish of Jefferson, and Nicole (Edward) Schultz of Scott Township.
Also surviving are their 5 grandchildren; Charlene, Emilie, Logan, Brian Jr, and Dustin. Her husband, kids and grandkids were her whole world and she would brag on them anytime she got the chance.
She also had several siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. She had so many friends too, who will probably tell you they laughed so hard they cried having a good time with her. Some surviving and others meeting her in Heaven with open arms. She was loved so deeply by everyone.
To know Sandy was to love her. If she liked you, then she loved you and treated you like family. Her home was always open and you could always sit at the kitchen table and share a cup of coffee or have a meal together. Guaranteed, there would be laughter too. She wore her heart on her sleeve and if she didn’t like you, well you knew that too!
Sandy spent her life taking care of everyone. From being a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend to working as an EMT helping to literally save the lives of strangers, she lived a life of devotion. She is Catholic and knew she would be in Heaven one day. We imagine she had a warm welcome from many loved ones already in Heaven.
And in true ‘Sandy’ fashion, she pushed through her struggles to protect us and make sure we were all going to be okay before she went to be with the Lord.
Her favorite poem was ‘Footprints in the Sand’.
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Scenes from my life flashed across the sky. In each, I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints; other times there was only one. During the low periods of my life I could see only one set of footprints, so I said, "You promised me, Lord, that you would walk with me always. Why, when I have needed you most, have you not been there for me?" The Lord replied, "The times when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you."
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 1 from 4 PM until 7 PM with a funeral service held on Saturday, November 2 at 10 AM at Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Rd., Jefferson, PA 15344. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at the American Legion in Jefferson.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Disabled American Veterans would be appreciated.
