Susan Dawn Barnes, beloved actress and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025 at the age of 78.

Susan was born and raised in Rices Landing, PA, the oldest child of three to William and Ruth Barnes. She attended West Virginia University, excelling both as a cheerleader and in her studies. Born with a natural gift for performance, Susan pursued acting in Hollywood with passion and grace. Over the course of her career, she brought depth and authenticity to every role she inhabited, whether on stage, screen, or television. Her IMDB page lists her as a cast member in 60 films and television shows, including Leaving Las Vegas, Speed, and Laverne and Shirley. Colleagues remember her for her remarkable talent, her dedication to her craft, and the generosity with which she encouraged others.

She is survived by her brother, Bill, her niece and nephew, and her grandnieces and nephew. Susan also leaves behind her chosen family of close friends and the community she called home.

A celebration of Susan’s life and career will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 2 to 4 PM at Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Rd., Jefferson, PA 15344.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to the Entertainment Community Fund, which helps actors and crew members of the stage and film industry in their times of need (entertainmentcommunity.org).

Susan Dawn Barnes will be remembered not only for her artistry but also for the love and light she shared with the world.
