Sylvia L. Ohler Gossett, 96 of Waynesburg, formerly of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 9, 2019 at Rolling Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation in Waynesburg, with her niece Linda Menhart King at her side. Rolling Meadows became the place she lovingly referred to as home.
She was born April 6, 1923 in Trotter, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late John J. and Mary Swank Ohler.
Sylvia was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Cleveland, Ohio. She enjoyed traveling, vacationing with “the girls”, the casino and spending time with her family and friends.
On March 4, 1939 she married Samuel R. Gossett, who died October 28, 1974.
Surviving is a granddaughter, Cheri S. Biggs (Jonathan) of Boston, Massachusetts; two great grandchildren, Ella and Owen and several nieces and nephews.
Also deceased are her two sons, Samuel R. Gossett Jr. and James A. Gossett; siblings, Alice Menhart, Aretta Archual, Barbara Kowlewski, Marie Tresnowsky, Bertram Ohler, John Ohler, and James Ohler.
Friends will be received on Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 11 am to 1:00 p.m., the hour of services in the Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Rd., Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, with Rev. Keith Larson, officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg. Condolences may be expressed online at www.behm-funeralhomes.com.
