Rev. Wayne E. Richard, 78 of Spraggs, died Sunday, December 27, 2020 in Washington Hospital, Washington. He was born April 4, 1942 in Kingwood, WV, a son of the late Charles E. and Sylvia Smith Richard. Wayne was a graduate of Mapletown High school. Following high school he served in the United States Army with the 50th Signal Battalion of the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a coal miner for Target and Shannopin Mines and then owned and operated his own construction company, Wayne Construction. Wayne was a member of the Greene Valley Church of God and an ordained minister. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all preaching God’s word. On June 3, 1961 he married Sandra G. Trimbath, who survives. Also surviving are three children, Wayne Richard Jr. of Ocean Grove, NJ, Shelly (Dan Basinger) Richard of Prosperity, and Sherrie (George) Cummins of Waynesburg; a grandchild, Brodie Staggers. Deceased are three brothers, Raymond Richard, Robert Richard, and Edward Richard; and two sisters, Shirley Marietta and Susan Richard. With following the COVID-19 restrictions friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 in the Greene Valley Church of God, 558 Crucible Rd., Rices Landing, PA 15357, where services will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with the Pastor Jeff Hathaway officiating. Wayne was a special man. He always had a smile on his face. Looking at the pictures the family shared the Richard resemblance carries down a few generations. I enjoyed the picture of Uncle Buck he looks so much like his brother Russell which was my grandfather. Prayers for Sandy and the rest of the family.
