

He was born November 16, 1946 in Jefferson Township, Greene County, a son of the late Jesse S. and Virginia Mae Bungard Basinger.
Bill was a 1966 graduate of Jefferson-Morgan High School.
He served in the United States Army Reserve, Company C, 429th Engineer Battalion, Washington.
Bill started working at the former Youth Development Center, before going to work in the Emerald Coal Mine, Waynesburg, where he retired from.
He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, the Waynesburg Moose Lodge #461, and the American Legion Post #954, Jefferson.
Bill loved at the Pittsburgh and Penn State sports teams and was an avid NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed listening to his country music.
On December 13, 1969 he married Doris Adamson in the Calvary Baptist Church, where he attended.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a sister, Mona Simmons of Waynesburg; and a brother, Benny Basinger of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a sister, Constance “Connie” Watson; and four brothers, Edward Basinger, Wayne Basinger, Charles “Bud” Basinger, and Richard “Dick” Basinger.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2017, in the Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where services will held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 8, 2017, with the Rev. Betty Riecks officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg.
