OBITUARY

Allen Poole Smith

June 5, 1933October 6, 2020

Allen P. Smith died October 6, 2020 at the age of 87 after a period of declining health in Port St. Lucie, FL. He was born on June 6, 1933 to Ralph A and Nellie (Poole) Smith. Allen attended Bowman St. Elementary and Wooster High school, graduation with the class of 1951. Earlier, the family had moved from Wooster to a farm in Plain Township where he enjoyed raising pullets and attended to several Bee Hives on the property. He was employed by Frito Lay and International Paper in Wooster. Allen was a lifelong member of the Wooster Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, as such he attended many international conventions including those in Europe. He also enjoyed talking with many people in the community regarding the good news of God’s Kingdom. He later traveled to England and Uruguay to visit various relatives. Allen and Bonnie enjoyed camping at Prairie Lane, Mohican State Park, Pleasant Hill and Charles Mills Dam and in later years at a condo on the beach in Florida. He married Bonnie Hall on February 1st. They had two children, Melissa Green Pneuman her partner (Dennis Wynn) of Port St Lucie, FL and Timothy Smith of Wooster Ohio. A grandson, Shane (Alyssa) Green of Wooster and granddaughter Sara Green and her partner James Boyd of Cincinnati. His wife passed away in 2011. Surviving are four sisters, Dorothy (Mark) Schlott, Phoebe Smith (Ted) Pastor and Janet (Ron) Foltz all of Ohio and many nieces and nephews also a sister in law Amira Hall of Barberton. Preceding Allen in death was his sister Linda Garn McCluer in 2014. A gathering for friends and family is pending.
