Ann Harless, a wonderful mother, teacher and English literature scholar, passed away 17 days shy of sharing herself with us for 92 years. Following a brief, yet comfortable illness she rests now with God after a long and successful life. She touched many of her students during her 30 year teaching career, inspiring many to love literature and English as much as she. Born on the Treasure Coast, as was her mother, she was a true Florida native. The first of her family to attend college, she attained her BS in 1944 from Florida State College for Women. Her rich life included attaining her private pilot’s license, many travels to Europe, singing in the church choir, acting in local community theater and membership in DKG, the professional women’s educators society. In theater parlance, she had a great run!
She is missed by her son, two grandsons and a great-grandson. A memorial service at Jensen Beach All Saints Episcopal Church on Monday, October 13th, 2014 at 11:00 AM honors her passing. Donations to DKG Educational Foundation are appreciated in lieu of flowers.
