Carol Sue De Stephan, born in Asbury Park, NJ and a long-term resident of Stuart, FL entered into eternal rest January 4, 2023 following a short illness. She passed away in the arms of her husband, Joseph Victor De Stephan, to whom she was married for 57 years and was surrounded by her three children.
Carol lived a magnificent life of commitment, sacrifice, hard work, faith and love that is an inspiration to her family and friends. The daughter of Allen Geschke, a decorated WWII veteran who served in the Pacific, Carol had worked at Central Jersey Bank in Freehold, N.J., and then after getting married, worked at Girard Bank in Jersey City. She married Joseph in 1965 and established a home for them while Joseph finished school. Initially living on a sailboat for two years, the couple eventually settled in Brielle, N.J., where they had three children. Carol was a spectacular mother, who infused her children with a love of the sea, travel, family gatherings, golf, fishing, gardening and togetherness. Carol was deeply loved by her five grandchildren to whom she was known as “Ro Ro” and she was a loving and supportive presence in each of their lives.
Carol was an outstanding golfer who played competitively on the East Coast of the U.S. as well as in Europe [Scotland and Ireland]. Carol was club champion at Manasquan River Golf Course over multiple seasons. In 2000 Carol moved to Stuart, FL on a full-time basis where she continued her love of the game.
A committed Roman Catholic and a woman of deep faith, Carol was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Manasquan, N.J. and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stuart, Fl.
Carol is survived by her husband, Joseph V. De Stephan, her children Kimberly A Beltrame of Jensen Beach, Florida, Joseph A De Stephan Jr. of Jensen Beach, Florida and Danielle Mancinelli of Bologna, Italy. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Sebastian and Arianna Beltrame, together with Leonardo, Massimiliano and Gia Francesca Mancinelli.
Carol will be deeply missed by many, but we will hold her in our hearts and we will use her fine examples of love and commitment as her legacy in this world.
