Pete was born in Chicago, IL to Clarence Austin Thompson, Sr. and Ursula Alice (Moomau) Thompson on July 16, 1940. He lived in Markham, IL during his childhood and early adult years before moving to Oklahoma City and later Tulsa, OK, eventually retiring to Jensen Beach, FL in 1996.
After serving in the US Army, Pete began a career in accounting working for Westinghouse Electric, Kerr-McGee, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma.
In retirement Pete enjoyed fishing and continued his love for cooking. He had a wonderful, quiet sense of humor which could at times be slightly mischievous. His kindness, compassion, and generosity touched the lives of so many people over the years as demonstrated by his lifelong commitment to volunteering for many organizations, including RAIN Oklahoma, United Way, and Greyhound Pet Adoption-Florida Southeast. Pete also was a lover of all other animals and was a pet owner throughout his life.
Pete was a loving son, brother, and partner who leaves behind many friends. He will always live on in our hearts and memories.
Pete was preceded in death by: partner, Richard Schwinkendorf; sister, Lillian Coyne; brother, Charles Thompson; and parents, Clarence and Alice Thompson.
Pete is survived by: partner, John Creider of Jensen Beach, FL; sisters, Beverly Kay Bishop of Palm City, FL, Nancy (Dan) Dell’Aringa of Huntley, IL, Catherine (Paul) Oberg of Port Saint Lucie, FL; brother, Richard (Cindy) Thompson of Yukon, OK; and many nieces and nephews.
A private celebration of Pete’s life will be held at a future date.
