Born in 1949 in Watertown, New York. Connie moved with her family to Pompano, Florida and then Delray, Florida where her parents' business "Keystone Art" trained her as a picture framer. While in high school, she joined the Civil Air Patrol and flew some of the first radio control model aircraft with her father. After graduating from Seacrest High School, she became a Delray Beach lifeguard and managed the swim classes and aquatic physical rehabilitation programs at the Delray Beach salt water pool.
Connie married Craig Pratt in 1976, had a son, Devin in 1978 and a daughter, Liana in 1980. In 1988 the family moved to Jensen Beach where she opened "Connie's Corner", a picture frame shop in down town Jensen Beach.
She and her husband joined the newly forming Jensen Beach Youth Athletic Association where she quickly became commissioner of slow-pitch softball for girls and coached one of the teams. All collegiate scholarships in softball for girls were being given for fast pitch, not slow pitch. Seeing the slow pitch game as a dead-end, she introduced fast pitch softball for girls in Jensen Beach and after much reluctance, Martin County High School, who with help from many quarters, won a state championship in softball soon after. Many Martin County girls went on to receive scholarships to collage as a result.
Her interest in Soccer found her a position as a coach of young co-ed teams and the director of all of the referees for the local JBYAA league for several years.
At the same time she was working with youth athletic programs, she maintained her own picture frame shop. At first it was "Connie's Corner" and then later she ran Custom Frames. She did conventional framing with hundreds of different moldings, mats, and glass or canvas linings on oil paintings. She excelled with specialty display framing; like shadow box display cases for collections and memorabilia. She also made, Unique 3-dimensional, octogonal display cased of Mahogany and glass for collector bottles of wine and champagne, signature footballs, baseballs and even a basketball and one very special antique doll. She framed ancient tapestries and did archival restorations as well.
Her generous unacclaimed contributions to civic and professional work benefitted so many. We will miss her.
From her loving family.
