

Donna Marie Mang, 74, of Port St. Lucie died peacefully Tuesday evening in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born to the late Peter & Clare Howanitz, in Carbondale, PA, Donna graduated St. Rose High School in 1957. In 1960, she married her high school sweetheart, Bill Mang and they began their charmed life together. Having relocated to the Treasure Coast in 1966, Bill and Donna were blessed with 54 years of marriage. As the matriarch of the “Mang Gang,” Donna served as an impeccable role model for everyone around her. Donna’s legacy lives on through the family she raised.
Donna was an active member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, and she worked as a teacher’s aide at Jensen Beach Elementary School in the 1970s. In addition to many years of community service, Donna committed her life to nurturing her beloved family including 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was a permanent fixture at endless school activities, sporting events, award ceremonies and graduations. Together with her husband, Donna supported and cheered for countless baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, cross country and track teams for more than four decades.
Donna is survived by four children: Mary Ann Conrad (Sherman Conrad), Laurie Andrews (Julian Andrews), and Linda Fitzpatrick (Chris Fitzpatrick) of Jensen Beach and Bill Mang (Sherri Mang) of Oviedo, Florida. She also survived by nine grandchildren: David Andrews, Jessica Andrews, CJ Fitzpatrick, Kacey Fitzpatrick and Kristin Conrad Bertolini (Thomas Bertolini) of Jensen Beach; Austin and Justin Mang, Oviedo, Florida; Kayla Conrad, Lincoln, Nebraska and Staff Sergeant Thomas Andrews (Elizabeth Andrews), stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. Donna was predeceased by her grandson, Kyle Conrad of Jensen Beach. Surviving great-grandchildren include newborn twins, Savannah and Owen Bertolini of Jensen Beach and Madilyn and Tyler Andrews of Fairbanks, Alaska. Donna is survived by two sisters: Sally Embree of Stuart, Mary Seman (Paul Seman) of Carbondale, Pennsylvania and three brothers: Donald Howanitz (Adrienne Howanitz) and Peter Howanitz (Bette Howanitz) of Port St. Lucie and John Howanitz (Laurel Howanitz) of Vienna, Virgina.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the KC8 Foundation, a scholarship fund for local student athletes established in the memory of Donna’s grandson Kyle Conrad. KC8Foundation.com
A viewing will be held at 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 26th at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Jensen Beach. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. followed by a private burial service at Fernhill Memorial Gardens in Stuart
