

Douglas was born on March 7,1943 in Claremont, NH to Howard and Muriel Burnham. Raised in Windsor, VT and upon graduation from Windsor High School, Doug began his career in Hartford, CT at Pratt and Whitney being accepted into the elite JEMA 4 apprentice program. As a skilled machinist, he left Connecticut in 1967 moving back to Vermont to start his own contract manufacturing business, Mardon Industries, specializing in the aerospace industry. Mardon's was acquired by Vermont American in 1980. Doug then relocated to Florida in 1982 and created DRB Industries, Inc., an Aerospace contract manufacturer. DRB was acquired by Chromally Gas Turbine in 1989 and Doug stayed on board until 1993. As a serial entrepreneur, Doug formed Universal Turbine Energy Systems. After successful proof of concept for the micro turbine product, a successful joint venture was formed with Elliott Turbo Machinery.
Doug is survived by his wife, Phyllis and stepdaughter, Louise Fisher. Daughters, Laurie Vahedi, her husband Ali and daughter Caley; Tamera Jones and daughters Ashley (David) and Allison (William); Son Christopher Burnham, his wife Victoria and sons Jackson, Logan, and August and brother, David Burnham. Doug was predeceased by two sons Tyler and Tobin and son-in-law Jeffrey.
