Born in Northfield, New Jersey, Marie was the beloved daughter of Marvin and Gertrude Frasmer, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a trained model and went on to live a life defined by devotion to family, service to others, and unwavering love.
Marie shared 65 wonderful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Harold Blot. Together they built a life centered on family, military service, and community. As a military wife for more than 34 years, Marie exemplified strength, grace, and resilience, supporting her husband throughout his distinguished career, ultimately serving alongside him as the wife of a three-star general. She devoted countless volunteer hours to assisting military families and supporting life on military bases, offering encouragement and friendship to those navigating the unique challenges of military life.
Her commitment to service extended into her community work, including her leadership role with the Republican Women’s Club of North Carolina, where she dedicated significant time and energy to civic involvement and community engagement.
Marie found great joy in golf and horseback riding. Though she took up golf later in life, she quickly developed a passion for the game and achieved the remarkable accomplishment of three hole-in-ones — a reflection of both her determination and spirited nature.
Above all, Marie will be remembered for her warmth and generosity of heart. She loved people easily and sincerely, and that love was returned many times over. Friends and family alike cherished her kindness, her welcoming spirit, and her beauty — both outwardly and within.
She is survived by her loving husband, Harold Blot; her children, Harold Blot Jr., Michael Blot, and Caroline Maffei; her nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; and her younger brother, Marvin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Gertrude Frasmer, her sister Patricia Ortlip and her beloved youngest son, Thomas Blot.
Marie will be cremated and, later, will be laid to rest with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery, a fitting tribute to a life lived in faithful service to family and country.
Her memory will live on in the many lives she touched with her compassion, strength, and enduring love.
