Mary Ann Benjamin of Jensen Beach, FL passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at the age of 84 after an extended illness. She was born Jan 16, 1937 in Salamanca, NY a daughter of the late Bernard and Margaret (Wallace) Collins. She grew up in Ellicottville, NY and Ashford NY. She was an active member of the Jensen Beach Community Church. She loved music, art and her garden, loved to surround herself with friends and family and loved to play pranks and enjoy life. Her impish grin and twinkle in her eye was evident throughout her life. She made each person she met feel special by engaging in conversations to get to know them, offer a thought or encouraging word. She graduated from nursing school in Buffalo, NY at Buffalo General Hospital and served her patients in the Intensive Care Unit and Coronary Care Unit at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY until her retirement. She is survived by children Robert (Anne) Bergoine of Central Valley, NY, Laurie (Lance) Lewis of Gettysburg, PA, Jennifer (Phil) Wilken of Highland Mills, NY, her sibling Sharon (Bruce) Hare. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husbands Robert Bergoine and Ashely Benjamin, siblings John Collins, Kay Pawlowski, David (Jean) Collins, Patrick (Maisie) Collins and son Michael Bergoine.
A celebration of life service is being held in her memory at the Jensen Beach United Church of Christ on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Jensen Beach United Church of Christ; 3900 Skyline Drive, Jensen Beach, FL 34957.
