Mary Joan Kean

Mary (May) J. Kean, 84, of Port St. Lucie, Florida passed away on May 29, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. May was born in Newark, New Jersey and resided in Parsippany and Long Beach Island where she loved to spend time with family and friends. May was an RN and loved her job as a school nurse. She enjoyed gardening, bike riding, going to the beach, shopping, eating, and talking. She loved animals, especially cats.

May was predeceased by her husband, Raymond J. Kean, parents, John and Josephine (nee Chnapko) Purpura as well as her brother, John Purpura. She is survived by her 3 children: Kim and her husband Ray Maronpot, Janice and her partner Troy Lupinacci, Ray and his wife Sue; two grandsons, Justin and Lucas; her brother Tony Purpura and his wife Debbie; nieces Jessica and her husband Jeremy, Claire Fratello-Hakim and her husband Chris, and Grace and nephews Kyle and David. She is survived by many cousins that she loved very much.

A memorial gathering will take place at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 21st at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 4700 Long Beach Boulevard, Brant Beach with a Memorial Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Caring Fields Felines, 6807 SW Wedelia Terrace, Palm City, FL 34990 or Treasure Coast Hospice,1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, FL 34997 would be appreciated.
