Born Sept 13, 1940 in South Plainfield, New Jersey, she graduated from South Plainfield High School.
Maryellen moved to Toms River, NJ and raised her two children working as a waitress at the Red Ranch Cocktail Lounge in Brielle, NJ. She was well known for her exuberant energy and infectious smile.
She later married Jim Wiessel and they eventually retired to the small historic town of Jackson Hole, WY. Maryellen enjoyed being in the kitchen, gardening, fishing, card games and shuffleboard. She was known for putting the “happy” in happy hour, but most importantly was a loyal friend and a proud grandmother.
Maryellen is survived by her children, Jim Gitto and Kelly Gitto; grandchildren, Justin Gitto and Lauren Sredniawa; and great grandson, Grant Gitto. She is also survived by her step children, Trisha Martin and Sean Wiessel and step grandchildren, Cody, Conner, Callie, Jeremy and Robbie.
Maryellen was predeceased by parents, Gertrude Shultz and Edward McBride, as well as her brothers, Thomas, Albert, and Edward.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, August 23, 2019 from 2:00PM-4:00PM with a memorial service to begin at 3:00PM at Aycock Funeral Home in Jensen Beach.
