January 19, 1921 – July 23, 2013
Norma Louise Myers of Jensen Beach died on July 23, 2013 at Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, Florida. She was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri and moved to Jensen Beach in 2000.
I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways of happy times and laughing times and bright sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
Norma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother & aunt. She passed away on July 23rd 2013, after 92 wonderful years of life. She was vibrant and sharp right until the very end. Norma loved the Lord. She still drove, lived independently, and played bridge four days a week with both the Ocean Breeze & Moon River bridge clubs. She also loved sports (especially tennis, swimming and volleyball), food, music, angels, all colors especially purple and lavenders, old western movies, and was a wicked good card player. At family gatherings, she was always the one to get some type of game going whether it was cards, hot dice, or backgammon. She was always on the move. In the 1980's she was on the Senior Olympic Power Volleyball team, winning various medals.
She was a strong woman, generous, warm and welcoming to family and strangers alike, and would always offer you a meal. A friend was family to her. She's the reason we have such a close and loving family.
During WWII, Norma was "Rosie the Riveter", building airplanes for the cause. Later in life, she once again became "Rosie the Riveter" and eventually retired from McDonnell Douglas in 1985. Norma was married almost 65 years to Thomas Myers, and was widowed in 2005. Norma is survived by her loving family including her daughters, her son, grandchildren, son and daughter in-laws, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces & nephews.
We little knew that evening that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home. You left us happy and peaceful memories, your love is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side. So we wish you love on your journey, and know that you are in God's great hands, one day we will all be together when God calls us one by one, according to his plans.
A memorial service will be held for her family and friends on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at 2:00P.M. at Aycock Funeral Home in Jensen Beach, FL.
Contributions may be made in Norma's honor to Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 S.E. Indian St., Stuart, FL 34997.

We are thinking of you all and our heart broke when we heard the news - there is no pain greater than losing a loved one. Hold dear to your hearts that "... death is nothing at all. I have slipped away into the next room. Call me by my old familiar name. Speak to me in the easy way which you always used. I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other put no difference into your tone.....Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed....Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effect, without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all it ever meant...Why should I be out mind because I am out of sight?...." Time won't heal the pain, it will just be easier to accept and live. Know that Norma is with you all always, next to you all, watching you all - she will never leave any of you. She will always be in you. All our love.
