One of the first troopers I met and rode with on the "East St. Louis Detail" when I transferred to D-11 Collinsville.  I well remember his clever self introduction and  it is a memory I prefer to  keep to myself.  All I need to say is it had me laughing while he kept his signature straight face!

Paul was a good guy.  Honest.   Entertaining!  Dependable but not always predictable, and I say that in a good  way.   He  was a clever  cop in that little got past him and I never knew him to lose his cool.   If he wanted to speak his mind he did so and the listener would have no doubt as to where Paul was coming from. 

It is pleasing that he had a post retirement life in Florida and knew a personal relationship with his Savior.  Condolences to his family.  I'm sad to know is gone. 

Although we didn’t know you as well personally, but more as Katie’s dad, we will always remember the pride you had in her. You raised a wonderful daughter that we love as our own! We will always be extremely grateful for the trust you had in Lucas to love, keep safe, and take care of Katie, Hannah, and Lucy. Now we are praying for those you loved and love you to find peace and comfort in knowing that you are with the one who loves us most of all, Christ Jesus!

A great Trooper and always "polite" person.  Always called me "Mr."  when he came in the Communications Radio Lab. . . ALWAYS.  He was never at lost of his signature smile while providing "data" on why his radio was smoking.

I have some of the best childhood memories with you Paul and Katie. My favorite though is when you were taking me and Katie back to my house in your patrol car. We thought you couldn't hear us behind the glass, so we sat there and told "secrets" the whole way. You smiled, but never told us you could hear us anyways! Too many more to list!! You were such a big part of my life growing up. You will sincerely be missed. Give my dad a hug for me!💗

I am saddened to hear of your loss. Paul and I worked together and he was a person you could depend on. 

RIP Paul!  You we’re a bright light on our East St Louis Details!  One of my favorite memories is when we were called in for a random drug test.  You showed up with a cup of Mt. Dew and told the lab tech you were ready to submit your urine sample.  The lab tech  informed you she couldn’t accept the sample in such a manner and you would have to submit a urine sample while on site.  You shrugged your shoulders, said oh well, then chugged the cup of Mt. Dew!  I thought the lab tech was going to pass out!  You will be missed!  

Rest In Peace Paul. You had a great gift of lightening any situation.  The letter signed “Paul’s mom “ is still on of my favorites. My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this terrible time.

RIP ISP Brother🙏    Your humor always made details interesting.

Paul and I worked on SPRINT (State Police Response Intervention Neighborhood Team) for several years together.   He would usually ride with me since there were too many pop bottles on the passenger side floor board of his squad car.   His experience and quick wit always kept things interesting.  He preferred to be called the STOD (Senior Trooper On Detail) among our group and we all respected his status.  We had some great times together and I always smile when I think about him and the stories I can't share here.   Godspeed STOD!
