Ralph was the second eldest of five children and the oldest son of Celia and Charles Cioffi. Raised on 110th Street, he carried with him a deep sense of family, strength and responsibility - values that would come to define the man he was.
Ralph and Maryann were married on October 15, 1960 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Mount Vernon, New York. Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in love and devotion. They raised their two daughters; Virginia and Elizabeth, in Mount Vernon, where they spent many years before eventually retiring to Florida; their daughter Elizabeth and grandchildren soon followed.
Ralph was a devoted family man who found great joy in spending time with his children. He spent many weekends taking his daughters to the Bronx Zoo, Playland, miniature golf and the circus in New York City. One of his favorite outings was visiting Nathan’s in Yonkers with his children, and later continuing those special outings with his grandchildren. Each summer, Ralph would plan an educational vacation, he had a lifelong love of learning, often visiting museums and exploring new places.
As President of the Senior Center in Yonkers, Ralph took great pride in building community. He especially loved hosting and planning parties, and cherished time spent at family gatherings, where he could often be found telling jokes and making his nieces and nephews laugh. He had an incredible sense of humor and had a way of making every occasion feel special.
Ralph valued the many lifelong friendships made while living in Harlem. His deepest and strongest bond was with his closest friend Carlo Fierro. As close as brothers, Ralph and Carlo grew up sharing a love of the New York Yankees, Horse Racing, Casinos, and late night phone calls.
Ralph will be remembered not only for his strength and devotion to his family, but for the happiness, warmth, and laughter he brought into the lives of everyone around him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
