

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Raymond J. Henderson Sr., of Stuart, FL, formerly of Monroe, NY, on February 3, 2025. Ray’s journey was one of service, dedication, and love for his family and community.
Ray was born to Catherine and William Henderson in Manhattan in 1938. Ray was predeceased by his beloved wife, Vivian and his brother William (Sister-in-Law Terry). He was a loving father to his son, Raymond (Wife Kathleen), and his daughter, Annemarie Strauss. Ray was the proud grandfather of Kristen and Michael Strauss (Fiancé, Halie), and Liam, Fionna, and Aidan Henderson, as well as great-grandfather to Harper Strauss.
Ray was known for his strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to those around him. He served his country in the United States Army during the Cold War. He continued his dedication to service as a proud member of the FDNY, Ladder Company 27. His career also spanned many years in the Metal Lathers/Reinforcing Iron Workers Local 46 NYC, where his expertise and reliability were respected by all. Ray was a charter member of the South Blooming Grove Volunteer Fire Department and an active member of American Legion Post 126.
In his free time, Ray was an avid reader, always immersed in books, both fiction and non-fiction, expanding his knowledge and passion for learning. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including the beaches and saltwater fishing on the Florida Treasure Coast, a place where he found peace and joy.
Ray’s life was a testament to hard work, devotion to family, and service to others. He will be greatly missed.
Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY at the convenience of the family.
