

Thomas M. Faehnle, 89, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, originally from Sabina, Ohio, passed away, Tuesday, August 20, 2013. Dr. Faehnle was born December 8, 1923 in Logan, Ohio to Agnes and Carl G. Faehnle of Columbus, Ohio. He was a World War II veteran who proudly served as an ensign in the United States Navy. Following his military service Faehnle graduated from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1950 and was in private family practice in Sabina, Ohio. He served as the family physician for multiple generations of families in the Clinton and Fayette Co. area until his retirement in 1992.
Dr. Faehnle is survived by his wife of 65 years, Loretta Grogan Faehnle, sons Thomas Faehnle, Patrick Faehnle, and daughter Genevieve Faehnle, grandchildren Kelly, Thomas, Sarah, and Emily Faehnle, his brothers David and Don Faehnle, and Sister Martha Casey. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Gene and Carl Faehnle, and his sisters, Jeanette Whitmer, Marilyn Taylor, and Barbara DeRoche.
During his lifetime, Dr. Faehnle served on the board for Clinton Memorial Hospital and had multiple terms as Chief of Staff for the hospital. He was one of the first inductees into the American Academy of Family Practice. He was a member of the Wilmington, Ohio Elks Lodge, Sabina Lions Club, and other volunteer organizations. He was a true family man who enjoyed spending time outdoors and traveling across the country introducing his family to the wonders of the United States.
Memorial services to be held Sunday, Aug. 25 from 11:00AM to 12:00Noon at Aycock Funeral Home, Jensen Beach FL. A Funeral Mass will follow Monday Aug. 26 at 10:00AM at Holy Family Catholic Church in Port St. Lucie, FL.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Clinton Memorial Hospital, 610 W. Main Street, Wilmington, OH 45177 in memory of Dr. Faehnle.
