Christine Marie Newby, age 85, of Johnson City, TN, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at the Johnson City Medical Center, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born in Decatur, Illinois, a daughter of the late Clarence Arthur Hawkins and Elizabeth Maria Berry Hawkins Allen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Stacey Newby.
Christine was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church where she was involved in various ministries. She held multiple degrees from ETSU, and she retired as a Licensed Clinical Therapist. She was an avid reader and nature lover.
She is survived by four sons, David Newby and wife Joy, Daniel Newby, Michael Newby, and Peter Newby and wife Kristin; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, Christian, Nick, Abi, Katrina, and Connor Newby; and one sister, Eleanor Behrend.
The family would like to extend their thanks to her special friend, Frances Jackson for her love, care, and spiritual guidance.
