Homer James “Jimmy” Martin, age 72, of Johnson City, TN, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He was born in Leaksville, North Carolina, a son of the late Coy James Martin and Elizabeth Robertson Martin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step mother, Ruth Minter Martin, his wife, Floritta Jean Webb Martin; one brother, Thomas Allen Martin; and one step son, Vincent Paul Webb.
Jimmy was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a grounds keeper at the Eden Golf Course and of the Baptist faith. He loved fishing, listening to records, music and dancing.
He is survived by his daughters, Pamela Ferguson and husband Brian, and Bessie Woodby and husband Tim; four granddaughters, Alex Ferguson, Chasedy McQueen, Jessica Holtsclaw and husband Justin, and Brooklyn Hampton; two grandsons, Branson O’Quinn and Jordan Webb; one sister and brother-in-law, Ruth Martin McCollum and husband J.W.; one brother, Bailey Pratt; one special great nephew, Joseph Riddell; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no formal services held.
The family would like to extend thanks to the Doctors and Nurses at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center for all the love and care that was shown.
