James “Bud” Dexter Campbell, age 77, of Johnson City, TN, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at the Franklin Woods Community Hospital. He was born in Johnson City, Tennessee, a son of the late James Campbell and Grace Lee Henton Troxwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, James Dexter Campbell, III; one daughter, Sherry Renee Campbell; and one sister-in-law, Bessie Carver.
Bud was a member of Gateway Apostolic Church. He was a Corrections Officer with the City of Johnson City. He also enjoyed helping at Good Samaritan Ministry. Bud loved playing golf and was an avid sports lover especially being a fan of the Washington Redskins. He will always be remembered for his saying, “God Will Provide.”
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Debra “Dee” Campbell; and one brother, Van Troxwell.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 7, 2023 from 11:00AM until 11:45AM at Monte Vista Funeral Home. Committal Service and Interment will follow at 12:00PM in the Garden of Meditation at Monte Vista Memorial Park with Pastor Terry Carver officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
