Mrs. Jerry Lee Godsey McInturff, age 82 of Smyrna, Georgia passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024. She was born to the late Hubert Franklin Godsey, Sr. and the late Mary Elizabeth Godsey at the family home in Johnson City, TN in 1941. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Gary Wayne McInturff and granddaughter, Maya Rain McInturff.
She attended high school and completed work towards a bachelor’s degree before leaving school to work. She married the late Elbert Wayne McInturff in 1964. They lived together in Johnson City, Knoxville, and Chattanooga before eventually settling in Mt. Juliet, TN, where they would raise their children.
Throughout her life, Jerry was constantly moving. Whether she was selling real estate, teaching dance classes, tending to her horses, or caring for seniors (even as she was a senior herself), the one thing she rarely did was sit down. Even as her health declined, she could often be found picking up any broom left in sight or helping other residents.
Jerry was immensely proud of her family. She leaves behind wonderful memories of a woman that gave far more than she took and made the world around her a happier place.
She is survived by her two sons Kevin (Rebecca) McInturff, Phillip McInturff; one sister, Missie Humphreys; three brothers, Bill (Pat) Godsey, Kelly (Debbie) Godsey, and Gary (Patricia) Godsey; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Evelyn, Molly Victoria, Caroline Rebecca, and Dharma Koi McInturff.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 12:30PM at Monte Vista Funeral Home with Jason Sansbury officiating. Committal Service and Inurnment will follow in the Garden of the Gospels at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her sons, Kevin McInturff and Phillip McInturff.
