Lila R. Fletcher, 95, of Tucson, AZ and formerly a long-term resident of Johnson City, TN passed away peacefully on September 14, 2016. Lila was born in Baldwin County, Alabama on May 1, 1921. Lila married the love of her life, Carl E. Fletcher on August 22, 1943. They recently celebrated their 73rd anniversary.

After Carl was deployed to the Philippines during WWII, the couple exchanged letters daily. Today those letters serve as a legacy of love and lifelong commitment. Through the years Carl and Lila had three children and four grandchildren. Their oldest daughter, Carol Meekhof and her husband Ronald Meekhof live in Spring Lake, Michigan. Jean Hoffman, their middle daughter, and husband Rick Hoffman reside in Castro Valley, California. The Hoffmans have two children, Daniel and Matthew. Karen Wiese, their youngest daughter, her husband George Wiese and two children, Benjamin and Megan live, in Tucson, AZ. Lila was a devoted wife, mother and friend.

Holidays and get-togethers were always important to her. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Before moving to Tucson to be with family, Lila was actively involved in the Johnson City, TN community. She was passionate about her home church, Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church and served with United Methodist Women in leadership roles. She supported those less fortunate delivering meals through Meals on Wheels and flowers to the hospital. As president of the Johnson City Garden Club and involvement in other organizations, she worked tirelessly beside her husband to conserve the beautiful Tennessee landscape. Lila was energetically involved in the lives of her daughters as a Girl Scout Troop leader and school activities.

A Private Committal Service & Interment will be held at Mountain Home National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Gospel Rescue Mission (Women’s and Children’s Center), 707 W. Miracle Mile, Tucson, AZ 85705; Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church (United Methodist Women), 201 S.
