

Marcella Thomas Epperson of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away on September 10th, 2026, in Erwin, Tennessee at the age of 97. She was born in Johnson City, Tennessee on September 7th, 1929, to her proud parents, the late John H. Thomas and Sarah Pearl Slagle Thomas. She was loved by her special uncle, the late Henry Heber Thomas. Marcella was the devoted wife of the late Dr. Terry Epperson.
Marcella attended East Tennessee State University and had several different careers. She carried with her throughout her life a love for creativity. She exercised this love through her many projects with crafts, decorating, sewing, cooking, and entertaining that she shared with others. She was also a woman of remarkable energy and keen business sense. Marcella had a way of approaching life with determination, confidence, and enthusiasm, and her example inspired those fortunate enough to know her. Those who knew Marcella will remember her for her strong spirit, generous heart, and discerning mind.
The family would like to extend a special thanks and appreciation to Karen and Kasey for their love, care, and devotion to Marcella. Also, a special thanks to the staff and doctors of the Erwin Christian Care Center for their care and love.
Marcella will be remembered with great affection. Gratitude, and love. Her memory will forever remain a blessing to those who were fortunate enough to call her a friend.
Marcella was laid to rest with love on Monday, September 14th, 2026, at Monte Vista Cemetery with her family, with Minister Dale Barger presiding.
