Phyllis Jane Helton

Phyllis Jane Helton, age 88, of Bristol, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at the Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born in Bristol, Virginia, a daughter of the late Clifford and Amanda Shelton Wright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Helton; one grandson, William Helton; three sisters, Bernice Hernandez, Christine Gross, and Helen Murray; and one brother, Rev. Leroy Wright.

Phyllis was a member of West Hills Christian Church and worked 15 years for Moore’s Potato Chips and 38 years for Bristol Compressors. She loved to cook, work in her garden and flowers, and crochet and sew.

She is survived by two sons, Rev. Frank Helton and wife Teresa, and Phillip Helton; one daughter, Sandy Hayes; one daughter-in-law, Rebecca Helton Hensley and husband Jim; ten grandchildren, Justin Helton and wife Lisa, Jeremy Helton and wife Julie, Hannah Helton Ollen and husband Ben, Holly Helton Harper and husband David, Seth Helton, Samuel Helton, David Helton and wife, Anthony Parks and companion Jessica Lane, Shannon Helton Amos and husband Stacey, and Tabitha Helton Norris and husband Erik; fourteen great grandchildren, Kiana Grooms, Asher Helton, Angel Helton, Lyka Harper, Izzabella Harper, Gabriella Harper, Angelo Harper, Winter Lane, Whisper Lane, Willow Lane, Ava Amos, Cherish Hornbeck, Nona Norris and LaFoy Norris; one great great-grandchild, A’keem Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.

Committal Service and Interment will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Mountain View Cemetery in Bristol, Virginia, in the Garden of Field of Honor with Chaplain Gary Knapp officiating.

The family would like to extend special thanks to special caregivers, Kathy Martin, Bobby Rouse, and Rebecca Helton Hensely for all their love and care that was shown.
