She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dorothy Roller. She also leaves behind her two siblings, Richard “Rick” Roller and Rebecca “Becky” Roller Corzine; two nieces, Briana “Bree” Oler (Jay), and Heidi Corzine; in addition her nephew, Justin Lowe (Allie); and two cousins, Terry Roller (Patty), and Kent Roller (Trish), of Unicoi.
In her youth, Sylvia loved and participated in Bible Bowl with First Christian Church at North American Christian Convention and Tournaments. She graduated from Johnson Bible College and went on to get her teaching certificate at Lincoln Memorial University. Always interested in Medicine, she worked at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Virginia for over ten years. Later she became a gifted Medical Transcriptionist. After retiring to Tennessee from Virginia, she attended “her” Crossroads Christian Church where she participated in their elaborate dramas and singsperations.
Sylvia was also an avid supporter of Friends of Felines Rescue Center in Defiance, Ohio. Over life she owned several cats: Samson, Katie, Cocoa, Jacob and Smuzzles. She participated in the Friends of Felines Fund Raisers, spending two years volunteering her vacation time to help out and called them “her other family.”
Committal Service be held Friday, April 18, 2025 at 10:00 AM in Monte Vista Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Clint Andrews officiating. A private burial will be in Section 9 at Monte Vista Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Keith and Devin with Gentiva Hospice of Johnson City and niece Bree Oler with Gentiva Hospice of Kingsport for all their excellent care during Sylvia’s final days.
