William Shane McKewen, age 59, of Zebulon, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at the Bristol Ballad Hospice House in Bristol, Tennessee. He was born in Johnson City, Tennessee, a son of the late William F. McKewen and Polly Ferguson McKewen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Tom Holmes; and one sister-in-law, Carolyn Sue Alexander Cloyd.
William better known as “Hot Dog” by his family and friends was of the Baptist Faith. He was a Floral Manager for Harris Teeter and had previously worked for Kroger’s and Food Lion in North Carolina. He enjoyed making floral arrangements, listening to gospel music, taking trips to the beach and spending time with his family.
He is survived by one sister, Kim Holmes; two brothers, Steven Christian Cloyd and Dennis Dale Cloyd; one niece, Lauren Lawhon; one great nephew, Carter Thomas Lawhon; two aunts, Linda Westmoreland and Margaret Bowman; and one special friend, Travis Jackson.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 4:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church, 1014 Antioch Road, Johnson City, TN with Pastor Richard Long officiating.
