He was raised in Harlan County, Kentucky, born to Marshall and Grace McGuire on May 16, 1945.
After graduating high school in 1963 he moved to Chicago, IL. It is there where he found employment in manufacturing, many new friends, and eventually the love of his life, Cheryll. In 1987, his job brought them to Johnson City, TN. New friendships were made, career changes happened, and a house became a home, full of love and the occasional disagreement. But mostly love!
He enjoyed working with his hands. He was always building something, making home repairs or working in his garden. He instilled many of these same interests into his children and grandchildren, where he later earned the title “Supervisor”, as he would find a comfy seat and be willing to share his knowledge and lend the occasional hand when necessary. He would always be there if we needed him, no matter the time or the task. Though he acquired many titles through the years, his favorite was Papaw. His grandchildren never stopped debating who the favorite was, but in truth, he loved them all equally.
Those who are left to cherish his memories are his daughter Candice Hill (Channing) and son Matthew McGuire (Katie); Grandchildren Breonna, Cameron (Emily), Brycen, Maylee, Henry, Lewis; Great grandchildren Jaydenn and Allionna. Also left to cherish his memory are his Beloved Nieces Debbie, Donna, Diana, Denise, Gina, Gwen, Karen, Lynn, Tina, Shelly; Beloved Nephew Kevin and his wife Barb; many great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Willie was Preceded in death by his wife of 33 years Cheryll, and Siblings Lucy, Jay, Junior, Grady, Mary, Virginia, and Joe.
