Carol Anna Greene

Carol Anna Greene (nee Summers), born 12/16/1936 in Columbus, Ohio. Died 1/26/2026 at the age of 89 at Danbury Senior Living, Mt. Vernon, Ohio. Attended Starling School in Columbus, Ohio, where she was a “Starling Girl.” She worked at Plain Local Schools in New Albany starting it’s first media center. She retired in December, 1991 from the Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Sanford Summers and Sarah Matilda (nee Nothstine) as well as one sister and three brothers. She is also preceded in death by three children: Larry, Michael and David and daughter-in-love, Cathy Greene.

Carol is survived by her husband of 72 years, John Greene; sons, William Greene (Joy) and James Greene; daughter Dee Hammel (John); 6 grandkids; 17 great grandkids; and 2 great-great grandkids as well as many friends and family.

Hobbies included cake-decorating, baking, candy-making, crocheting, sewing, ceramics, and various crafts. She enjoyed playing organ for church services at New Albany Church of Christ where her and John were founding members.

The greatest loves of her life were her family, friends and God. She was always the brightest light in every room. She never met a stranger, was kind, helped others and was an excellent example of a good, Christian woman. She was always telling others about her faith, love of Christ and encouraging them to know Jesus as their personal Savior. She was a prayer warrior for her entire life. She will be greatly missed, but we know she is now with Jesus and hugging her loved ones in Heaven where we know she has heard, “well done, good and faithful servant.”

There will be time during the funeral for you to share a special thought or time spent with Carol. A special thanks for the wonderful care she received from the staff at Danbury Senior Living in Mt. Vernon as well as “Care 360 Hospice.” There are simply not enough words to say how wonderful Hospice staff were in caring for Carol. She became their family and she loved them.

Visitation will be held at Crouse-Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, located at 225 North Main Street, Johnstown, Ohio, 43031, on January 31, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The funeral service will follow at the same venue beginning at 12:00 pm.
