Clara Alice Grunkemeyer, 78, of Junction City, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at her residence in the care of her family. She was born on March 18, 1948 in Monclo, WV, a daughter to the late Donald and Thelma (Mullins) Burgess. Clara had a heart like no other. She was an avid athlete who enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, bowling, softball, skiing and traveling. Clara loved the mountains of WV, but most of all loved her family. She is survived by her loving daughters, Ronda (Al) Frey and Kellie Adkins; grandchildren, Zachary Frey and Sarah Frey; great-grandchildren, Silas and Judah DuPerow; siblings, Mary Jo Hager, Judith Rogers, Betty Phillips, Marshall Burgess and Dreama Phillips; extended family members, Jill Roberts, Charles DuPerow, Summer Jacobs, Jason Grunkemeyer and Jill Webb and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her former spouses, Vernon Adkins and John Grunkemeyer and siblings, Kenneth Burgess, Donald Burgess and Phillip Burgess. Family and friends may call from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at CROUSE-KAUBER-FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, 225 N. Main St., Johnstown, OH 43031. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Calvin Alexander officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Johnstown, OH.
