Donna "Mike" Andrews

Donna “Mike” Andrews passed away shortly after midnight, July 5th at Riverside Methodist Hospital listening to the Beatles and fireworks in the distance; two of her many favorite things. She is already dearly missed by her family and friends.

She leaves behind her husband, Edward, her Falcon Flame of 55 years; son, Matthew; daughter, Erin; and her sweet furbaby, Maisy. Mike’s other daughter, Stephanie, will be waiting for her in heaven, and that will be quite the reunion! She was a rockstar mom that was always there for her kids. She was the one playing in the dirt with them, racing them down the sled riding hill, cheering them on at every game and sports event, planning picnics with special surprises, starting the campfires and getting the s’mores ready, scheduling family vacations, and making three different types of spaghetti every Monday night for years because of picky eaters.

She was also an amazing, loving Grandma to two Grandsons; Jackson and Drews. Jackson and Grandma Mike were inseparable. He was her little buddy. She admired both of her brothers so much and adored all of her nieces and nephews. She was so happy and proud of her entire family.

Mike was a beautiful woman with strength that went through so many battles in her life and still did it with a positive attitude and smile. She did not let the world change her smile. She used her smile to change the world. She would sit next to somebody on an airplane, and they would know her whole life story by the end of the trip. She could touch the heart of a stranger in no time and was no short of making friends.

She always wanted to try everything and do more. Nothing stopped her from enjoying every day to the fullest. She especially enjoyed sewing, reading on her kindle, gardening, walking with Maisy through the woods, her “campouts” with Jackson, and sailing with her Captain on the Donna Mae. She could eat Carolina shrimp, Lake Erie perch, and Ohio tomatoes and sweet corn everyday.

She got her degree at BGSU and was a PE and Health educator for many decades. She changed the lives of so many kids through the knowledge of physical education. She would always say, “today is a great day to make a difference.” Three specific kids that she coached and set up for success were her own three. She was a fantastic, supportive coach and mentor for many years coaching both soccer and lacrosse. Mike started the very first girls lacrosse program and planted the seed for future athletes at Jackson High School in Massillon, Ohio. Today, the program is still a continued success. She was a competitive tennis player as well and held many awards.

Mike was one special lady and will be deeply missed. She is forever in our hearts.

Memorial service will be held for Mike on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Parish in Gahanna, Ohio at 11am. There will be a “We Love You Mike” party afterwards at 1pm at another venue down the road (TBD).
