Edgar Durwood Birtcher

Edgar D. Birtcher, age 88, of Johnstown, OH, passed away peacefully Apr 22, 2015. Born Jan 15, 1927 in Pomeroy, OH, a son to the late Lemuel and Weltha Birtcher. Served in the US Navy during WWII. Owned a jewelry store/watch repair business in Johnstown and employed at Newark Air Force Station before retiring. He was a PT employee for 20 yrs up to his death at Double Eagle Golf Club. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and landscape oil painting. Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; son, Roger and brother, Paul. Survived by sons, Kenneth (Shelly) of Mancos, CO; Gary (Sandy) and Stephen (Jolene); grandsons, Kalon and Weston; sister, Martha and nephew, Shawn Mitchell of Columbus and sister-in-law, Martha “Marcie” Birtcher of Bath, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heartbeats, 336 E. Main St., Newark, OH 43055. SPECIAL THANKS TO: Dr. Michael Delphia, Dr. Charles Bush, Dr. William Rothermel for their medical knowledge in the latter years of his life. He is in Heaven with his Savior Jesus Christ. Funeral service will be on Tue at 10:30 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.
