

Henry E. Simon, age 85 of Johnstown, died Sunday July 14, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Columbus on November 29, 1927 to the late Charles and Elizabeth (Smith) Simon. A member of the JHS Class of ’45, he served his country serving in the US Navy, a part of Operation Crossroads, the atomic bomb test at Bikini Atoll.
Henry is survived by his son Andy (Heather) Simon of Locust Grove, Georgia; grandchildren Abigail, Nicole (David) Ingram, Morgan and Mason; nieces and nephews Craig, Becky, Terry, Dave, Tom, Rick, Mazey, Joey, Stephanie, Alison, Mauria, Andre and Beth Ann.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his nephew Damian Simon and his pet Mrs. Duck. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Grasshopper Association, and loved to golf and travel. He was the owner of the Kyber Run (Nomis) Golf Club in Johnstown.
Friends may call at the Crouse Kauber Sammons Funeral Home, 225 North Main St Johnstown on Tuesday from 6PM to 8PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of the Ascension, 555 South Main St in Johnstown on Wednesday at 10:00 AM with interment at St. Joseph Cemetery in Johnstown with military honors. In his memory, contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice. There will be an online memorial at www.cksammons.com.
