Herman A. "Buck" Buckenberger

August 14, 1922 – July 19, 2011

Herman A. “Buck” Buckenberger, 88, of Newark, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Licking Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10 AM Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Crouse-Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, 225 N. Main Street, Johnstown, OH., with Minister Cory Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Township Cemetery.

Mr. Buckenberger was born August 14, 1922 in Columbus, OH. to the late Andrew and Mary (Knaus) Buckenberger. He graduated from Johnstown-Monroe High School in the class of 1940, he was founder and owner of Buckenberger Farm Service, Utica, OH, and Buckenberger Sales & Service, Carroll, OH, he farmed all his life in Licking County, he was involved with constructing many buildings in Licking County and including at the Hartford Fairgrounds. He served as a McKean Township Trustee for over 30 years, school board member of the McKean Schools, 4-H Advisor, member of the UTK Club, Utica, OH, and member of the Licking County Agrarian Club. He enjoyed camping, boating, water skiing, and winter’s in Florida.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Billie J. Buckenberger of Newark, three sons, David (Karen) Buckenberger of Pickerington, Mack (Sue) Buckenberger of Utica, Mike (Lois) Buckenberger of St. Louisville, daughter-in-law, Lois (Warren) Buckenberger Johnson of Johnstown, ten grandchildren, Ty, Josh, Jeremiah, Tammy, Andy, Lois, Melissa, Seth, Jessica, and Jim, fourteen great grandchildren, Jarod, Derak, Carlie, Mason, Silas, Greta, Colton, Logan, Ali, Brock, Jarett, A.J., Hunter, and Brittany, many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his son, Robert L. Buckenberger, three sisters, one brother, one granddaughter, Nicole Buckenberger.

Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Friday, July 22, 2011 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of “Buck” to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Road, Newark, OH 43055.
