John Charles “Shack” Sciacca 85, of Johnstown, OH passed away at his home after a battle with Lung Cancer on Thursday, August 9, 2012. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, August 13, 2012 at Crouse-Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, 225 N. Main St. Johnstown, OH with Father Ogurchock as Celebrant. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Lockbourne, OH.
John was born on August 17, 1926 in Columbus, OH the son of the late Antonio and Mary (DeFrancisco) Sciacca. John served in the Navy on the USS Eldridge during WWII. He retired as the owner of the Cleve Windsor Market in Columbus, OH from 1946 until 1986. John enjoyed tending to his 5 acres of which he took tremendous pride.
John is survived by his children; Karen (Mike) Smith, Johnny (Misti) Sciacca, Bonnie (Carl) Riddlebarger and Robert (Sharon) Sciacca, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
John is preceded in death by wife Barbara Alice (Beekman) Sciacca, daughter Sharon Sciacca Hill, five sisters and six brothers.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, August 12, 2012 from 2 to 5 PM. The family would like to express a “Special Thank You” to niece Mary Bennett and family, hospice nurse Sue Grube for all their love and support.
