

Larry Lorain Piper, age 84, died peacefully into God’s care on July 11, 2026 at Story Point Senior Living Facility, formerly Middleton. He was born on May 28, 1942. Larry is survived by his beloved children, Bruce (Karen) Piper, Hope (Matthew) Link, and Dennis Piper, and his sister-in-law, Christy Garrabrant. He is also lovingly survived by four grandchildren, Meghan (Logan) Malone, Christopher Link, Austin (Teagan) Piper, Ashlyn Piper (Alex Bentivoglio), one great-grandchild Estella Malone, and many nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 64 years, Judith Ann, his parents, Albert and Rhoda Piper, siblings, Anna Louise, (Sis) Temple, and Melvin (Mildred) Piper. Also, he was preceded in death by his cherished son, Douglas Piper and kind-hearted daughter-in-law, Kimberlee Piper. Larry graduated from Johnstown High School in 1960. Larry worked the fi rst half of his career as an auto and truck mechanic. During part of these years he was responsible for keeping the school buses for Johnstown and New Albany in good working order to transport children to their schools. Next, he drove his own big rig for Croton Egg Farm delivering eggs to various places across the country. The fi nal leg of his career, he grew sod on the land in which he grew up. He delighted in being outdoors and working the land he had always known as home. Larry had an amazing ability to problem solve and fi x things. There was never any job too big to tackle and he had amazing tenacity. He was well respected for his steady and strong work ethic, and was always ready to lend a helping hand. In his fi nal years as mobility became more
diffi cult he found an outlet for his unique abilities by doing picture puzzles. He especially enjoyed puzzles that featured tractors and vintage cars. During his last year, he developed strong friendships in the community at Story Point, where they spent many evenings putting puzzles together. Larry was greatly loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends Friday, July 31, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Crouse-Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home in Johnstown. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11 a.m. on the same day led by Larry’s family members. In lieu of fl owers, the family prefers contributions in memory of Larry be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Licking County.
