April 24, 1929 – November 19, 2021
Louise Harmon, 92, of Croton, OH passed away Friday, November 19 at Licking Memorial Hospital. Louise was born in Wayne County, WV to the late Floyd and Grace (Pratt) Thompson. She was the youngest and last surviving of eight children having three brothers (Earl, Boyd, and Jay) and four sisters [Blanche (Napier), Ruby (Belcher), Shirley (Staten), and Hazel (Burgett)]. Louise was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Emmett L. Harmon (2015) and his parents, Lewis T. and Frances (Blackburn) Harmon. She is survived by five children, Jeannie de Saavedra (John) of Pataskala, OH, Patty Harmon, Croton, OH, David L. Harmon (Susie) Nicholasville, KY, Vickie McConnell (Don) Apple Creek, OH and Roger L. Harmon (Cheryl) Centerburg, OH, twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Louise offered her family much wisdom through her life experiences of growing up in the Appalachian region, migrating to Ohio in 1954, and being a part of so much of our country’s history. Her stories were of hard work, family and appreciating what she had. Her father was killed in a mining accident when she was seven, and her early years were humble. She was the only one in her family to complete high school. All of these things made her who she was. She was a great person, a great homemaker, a great cook, and most of all a great mother. She loved reading, collecting, and trying new recipes. Her needs were small but her joy of time spent with family was always her priority. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ in Johnstown, OH. Visitation and services will be at Crouse-Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home located at 225 N Main St., Johnstown, OH phone 740-967-6085. Friends and family may call during visitation hours Sunday, November 28, 2021 from 3-6 pm. The Funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Monday November 29 at the funeral home with Pastor Brian Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Rest Cemetery in Reynoldsburg, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Louise’s name to her beloved Church of Christ in Johnstown (5669 Clover Valley Road Johnstown, OH 43031).
